Simon & Schuster has extended its global deal with Philippa Gregory, signing another three books with the author of The Red Queen. Touchstone vice president and editor in chief Trish Todd negotiated the deal with Gregory's agent Anthony Mason. Todd will jointly edit Gregory's titles with Suzanne Baboneau, publishing director of Simon & Schuster UK.
Gregory will continue to write about the women of the War of the Roses in the three new books. The first book of the new deal is tentatively titled The Kingmaker's Daughters and is scheduled for worldwide English language publication in September 2012. The other two novels are provisionally titled The White Princess and The Last Rose.
Ian Chapman, managing director of Simon & Schuster UK, said: "The White Queen became Philippa’s first-ever number one hardcover bestseller in the UK, the paperback has continued to fly out of the shops and this August we took her new book, The Red Queen, to an even greater level of success with another number one bestseller, exceeding sales for The White Queen. We could not be happier that we are able to publish three new novels by such an exceptional storyteller. We look forward to continuing our success with Philippa and are immensely proud to be associated with such a fine writer."
Touchstone has been Gregory's publisher since The Other Boleyn Girl was published in 2002. Simon & Schuster became her global publisher last year with The White Queen. Gregory was previously published by HarperCollins in the UK.
Gregory said: "I am really delighted to be signing for another three novels with Simon & Schuster...I am so happy that readers are enjoying the Plantagenets as much as they loved the Tudors, and I am looking forward to these new books in The Cousins War series."
