Sophie McKenzie has signed world rights for two teen novels with Simon & Schuster in a six-figure deal, which the publisher predicts will lead to one of its “biggest and most anticipated books of the year”.
The first will be a thriller, as yet untitled, about the impact of a terror attack in London on two teens, scheduled for release in hardback and e-book on autumn 2013. The second novel will be published in 2014.
Venetia Gosling, editorial director for S&S, acquired world rights from Jodie Marsh at United Agents.
Gosling said: “2013 is going to be massive for Sophie as we push her brand up to the next level with the launch of this explosive new thriller, her first stand-alone novel for seven years. Emotional drama and page-turning suspense are absolutely what Sophie does best and that, combined with the topical and terrifying subject matter, will help this novel become one of our biggest and most anticipated books of next year.”
