Simon & Schuster US has formed a partnership with New York's Algonquin Hotel, famous for its literary connections with the likes of Dorothy Parker and Robert Benchley.
The Simon & Schuster Package will allow guests to stay in the Simon & Schuster Suite, which will include a living room and bedroom decorated with book memorabilia, and with a bookcase containing a permanent collection of literary classics and bestsellers. Guests staying in the suite will also receive an advance copy of a forthcoming S&S book on the first night of their stay as part of their turndown service.
The Algonquin will also host author readers for guests and the public, launching with Chuck Klosterman launching his new book I Wear the Black Hat in July.
Liz Perl, S&S US's senior vice president for marketing, said: "We are constantly looking for non-traditional venues that can expand the range of attendees at author events, as well as partnerships that can bring further visibility to our current publishing and company history. The Algonquin, with its longstanding and illustrious literary tradition, and its appeal to author, reader and traveller alike, is the perfect partner to further that ongoing effort."
