Simon & Schuster (S&S) UK has hired Sarah Macmillan as its new children’s marketing and publicity director.
Macmillan, who is currently head of events for HarperCollins Children’s Books, will join S&S on 25th June, where she will work with authors such as Cassandra Clare, Rachel Renee Russell, Sue Hendra and Paul Linett.
Alexandra Maramenides, m.d. at Simon & Schuster Children’s, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sarah to the Simon & Schuster Children’s business. Sarah has great experience leading teams in addition to working with high profile authors, agents, key stakeholders and partnership agencies. I have no doubt that Sarah will bring a great deal of knowledge and experience to us at Simon & Schuster.”
At HarperCollins, Macmillan manages campaigns for David Walliams and Oliver Jeffers. She has previously worked at ReadZone Books, SME Arts Fair and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and replaces Elisa Offord, who resigned from Simon & Schuster earlier this year.
In related news, S&S Children’s has launched a digital platform to showcase its picture books and illustrated fiction titles. The Book Den tumblr contains illustrations, book extracts, author event listings, activity sheets and Q+As with artists, and is an “ideal resource” for parents, teachers and librarians, according to S&S.
Readers can also sign up to the quarterly Book Den newsletter which will provide them with news on new titles.
