Simon & Schuster has bought two YA novels to be launched as e-book exclusives.
S&S editorial director Venetia Gosling bought UK and Commonwealth rights in a trilogy about revenge co-authored by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian. The deal was done with Lorella Belli on behalf of Folio Literary Management. The first novel, Burn for Burn, is out in e-book format now, with a print edition set to follow in March 2013. Two further titles - Fire with Fire and Ashes to Ashes - will follow.
Gosling also bought UK and Commonwealth rights in three historical novels by Katherine Longshore, from Lizzy Kremer at David Higham Associates on behalf of Inkwell Management. The first novel, Gilt, is the story of the rise and fall of Catherine Howard, wife to King Henry VIII, as witnessed by her best friend Kitty. The e-book will be out in November, with a print edition following in March 2013.
The second novel, Tarnish, the story of Anne Boleyn before her marriage, will be a print/e-book simultaneous publication in summer 2013. The third novel will tackle the topic of Mary Howard and her romance with Henry Fitzroy.
