S&S buys three from Luca Veste

Simon & Schuster has acquired rights to former Avon author Luca Veste’s new crime novel after a “heated three-way auction”.

S&S’s publishing director Jo Dickinson won UK and Commonwealth rights to three books by Veste, as yet untitled, in a deal negotiated through agent Phil Patterson of Marjacq Scripts.

Veste previously published Dead Gone and The Dying Place with Avon. The books, set in Liverpool, featured detectives Murphy and Rossi, characters who will also feature in the next three titles.

Veste’s first book with S&S will be released in 2015.

Dickinson said: “We were blown away by the pace and plotting of Luca’s first two novels and are thrilled to welcome him to the Simon & Schuster team. We plan to build Luca’s brand considerably over the coming years as his writing goes from strength to strength. This is a very exciting acquisition.”

Veste added: “I am incredibly excited to join the S&S team. They have a history of publishing the best crime fiction around and I am so pleased Murphy and Rossi will be joining such a stellar line up.”
