Maclehose Press has today (22nd July) released the first plot details for David Lagercrantz’s The Girl in the Spider’s Web, a continuation of Stieg Larsson’s bestselling Millennium series.
The book has been under a global embargo, and centres on characters Lisbeth Salander, the hacker who gave the series’ first book its title – The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – and on journalist Mikael Blomkvist.
In The Girl in the Spider’s Web, translated from Swedish by George Goulding, Blomkvist is contacted by renowned Swedish scientist Professor Balder, whose life is in danger.
Balder wants Millennium to publish his story and help him preserve his life’s work by going public. But Blomkvist is more interested in the news that Balder has been working with Salander, who has been trying to hack into the American National Security Agency. It has made her the target of ruthless cyber gangsters who call themselves The Spiders.
Maclehose Press said: “The violent unscrupulousness of this criminal conspiracy will very soon bring terror to the snowbound streets of Stockholm, to the Millennium team ‒ and to Blomkvist and Salander themselves.”
The Girl in the Spider’s Web is published by Maclehose Press in £19.99 hardback on 27th August.
