YouTube star Carrie Hope Fletcher is to write two novels for Sphere, including a “high-concept love story like no other”.
Fletcher’s non-fiction book All I Know Now was published by Sphere earlier this year.
Sphere commissioning editor Manpreet Grewal acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Fletcher’s two novels from Hannah Ferguson at Hardman & Swainson.
The debut novel, On the Other Side, will follow 82-year-old Evie Snow, who quietly passes away in her sleep, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. When Evie reaches the door of her own private heaven, she finds that she’s become her 27-year-old self and the door won’t open until she has unburdened her soul. What follows is a journey of redemption that leads Evie back to the man she should have married.
Grewal said: “Carrie is a remarkably gifted writer and she has an army of fans, the Hopefuls, who’ve been itching for a new book by her and they won’t be disappointed. On the Other Side promises to be a very different kind of love story and it will transport readers to a world that is impossible to forget.”
Fletcher said: “Fiction has always been my ‘thing’. My previous book All I Know Now was a wonderfully happy accident based on a blog I was writing about my own teenage escapades…and I can't quite believe the response it's had. But my hands have been itching to get back to fiction and creative writing and when Sphere loved my proposal for On the Other Side I truly couldn't have been more thrilled and I am so excited to tell Evie's story."
Sphere will publish On the Other Side in hardback and export C format in July 2016, with the paperback following in spring 2017.
Fletcher has more than half a million subscribers to her YouTube channel, ItsWayPastMyBedTime, and is currently playing the role of Eponine in "Les Misérables" in London’s West End.
All I Know Now has sold 24,296 copies through Nielsen BookScan.
