Sphere has acquired two more novels from Deborah Rodriguez, including a sequel to her debut, The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul.
Catherine Burke, publisher at Sphere fiction, bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Australia New Zealand and Canada, to the novels from Lizzy Kremer of David Higham Associates, working on behalf of Marly Rusoff. Rights for Australia New Zealand were acquired by Beverley Cousins, fiction publisher at Penguin Random House Australia.
The first book in the deal will be a sequel to Rodriguez’s first novel, The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul, which Sphere also published. The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul was the bestselling original paperback debut novel of 2013 and has sold 245,404 copies copies through Nielsen BookScan.
Burke said: “Deb’s wonderful stories have touched readers all over the world and her warm and insightful books celebrate love, hope and above all, friendship. Deb is a true inspiration and we are delighted to be working with her on future novels.”
