South Africa starts with statistics and charts

<p>Eve Grey</p><p>The University of Pretoria has released initial figures on the size and shape of the South African book market, as part of a long-term data gathering project.</p><p>UOP's department of publishing surveyed the publisher members of the PA of South Africa, which also represents booksellers. Its report showed that the 17 largest publishers represented 90% of the total book market of R1.4bn (&#163;125m). As a result of such a concentration of business among the top rank, replies from only half of the survey's target companies covered 97% of the market. Counting those publishers...
