Social network for McDermid

<p>Little, Brown has launched a social networking <a href="http://rigmarole.ning.com/" target="_blank">site</a> to tie-in with the publication of Val McDermid&rsquo;s new novel<em> Fever of the Bone</em>, her first with the publisher.<br /><br />The site, called RigMarole, features in the novel, her 23rd. All the victims from the book are on the site and are &#39;played&#39; by various members of the L,B marketing team. Upon publication, the killer will also be introduced to the site. Recipients of McDermid&rsquo;s e-newsletter have been invited to join; the site is also linked to McDermid&#39;s website, as isthe offical Facebook page and Spotify playlist.</p><p>Emma Williams, brand manager at Little, Brown said &ldquo;We created the site as a fun, innovative and interactive way for Val McDermid fans and new readers alike to connect with each other, discuss Val&rsquo;s work and share information with each other as they would on any other social networking site. The site is already populated by scores of Val McDermid fans.&quot;<br /><br />Publicity lined up for <em>Fever </em>includes:the <em>Times</em>, the <em>Herald</em>, the <em>Financial Times</em>, the <em>Independent</em>, the <em>Sunday Telegraph</em>, <em>Psychologies </em>magazine and <em>Candis</em>. Broadcast publicity includes interviews on BBC1 &quot;BBC Breakfast&quot;, BBC Radio 4 &quot;Broadcasting House&quot;, BBC Radio 5 Live &quot;Simon Mayo&quot; and a series of BBC GNS interviews. <br /><br />McDermid also has events lined up with City Books Hove; an Agatha Christie event at the Southbank Centre in London; Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival; Warwick Words Festival; Ilkley Literature Festival; Guildford Book Festival; Manchester Literature Festival and Cambridge WordFest. <br /><br />Val will also be visiting Ireland for publication where media coverage will include interviews on RTE Radio &quot;Today with Pat Kenny&quot; (national radio) and TV3 &quot;Ireland AM&quot; (national tv). <br /><br />All copies of <em>Fever of the Bone</em> are stickered: &quot;By the creator of TV&rsquo;s &#39;Wire in the Blood&#39;&quot;.<br /><br /> </p>
