Smith’s Mister to S&S
Simon & Schuster is to publish a book arguing that English football managers’ tactical nous is the basis for the famed Dutch concept of “total football”, Spanish “tika-taka” and the legendary Hungarian team of the 1950s, known as the Magnificent Magyars.
Ian Marshall, S&S head of sport, bought UK and Commonwealth rights to the Times football writer Rory Smith’s Mister from David Luxton of David Luxton Associates.
“Mister” is a term used for a football team’s manager in many countries.
The book will be published in April ahead of Euro 2016, and will have a foreword from England boss Roy Hodgson.
