Smashwords develops self-interview tool

Self-publishing website Smashwords has developed a tool to allow authors to post interviews of themselves onto the site.

Smashwords Interviews is an author marketing tool designed to give readers more insight into the person behind the works they read.

Authors can use the tool to talk about themselves and the inspiration behind their works on video and link it to their author profile.

Mark Coker, c.e.o. of Smashwords, said: “Authors simply answer a series of questions, or create their own questions, and then click publish… The idea for this feature came to me last year when we were running a series of author interviews here on the Smashwords blog. Many more authors wanted to be interviewed than we could accommodate.

"I thought to myself, "wouldn't it be cool if we could interview every Smashwords author?"  And then the solution became apparent: a self-serve system for publishing author interviews. Smashwords Interviews is the result.”

Authors can answer a series of suggested questions, or make up their own. At the end of each interview is a list of the author’s books.
