Simon and Schuster Children’s Books is to publish a book based on internet sensation The Fox, a song from Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis.
The video features Ylvis, made up of brothers Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker, and their friends, singing about the different noises that animals make.
The picturebook based on the video is entitled What Does the Fox Say? and features lyrics from the video and artwork from Norwegian illustrator Svein Nyhus.
Catherine Ward, children's publicity and marketing manager at S&S UK, said the project came about quite quickly and that the book has already come out in Norway. “It was a fun thing to do because it’s so popular, the retailers are really excited,” she told The Bookseller.
Ingrid Selberg, m.d. Simon & Schuster Children’s, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Simon Green at Creative ArtistsAgency.
S&S UK will publish What Does the Fox Say? on 12th December this year, alongside S&S US, simultaneously in hardback and paperback.
