Simon Callow will record the audiobook for Michelangelo, God's Architect the Story of His Final Years and Greatest Masterpiece for Princeton University Press later this year.
Michelangelo, God's Architect the Story of His Final Years and Greatest Masterpiece by William E. Wallace will publish simultaneously in hardback (£24), audiobook and ebook on 15th October.
The recording makes actor and theatre director Callow the voice of Princeton University Press’s 30th audio book in the list which the publisher launched last year.
Princeton’s publisher of art and architecture Michelle Komie said: “Michelangelo was one of the world’s great polymaths: a painter, a sculptor, a draftsman, a poet, and as author William Wallace shows, in his final years Michelangelo remade himself into one of the most important architects of the Italian Renaissance. As Simon Callow is himself such an accomplished artist across a range of disciplines, with so many personal connections to the depictions and portrayals of major artistic figures, I truly can’t imagine a better match for the narration of this book.”
