Independent publisher Silvertail Books will publish Sidekick: How A British Policeman Became a Real-Life Superhero by Michael Matthews.
The publisher bought world rights direct from the author. The book will be published on 14th May 2020.
Matthews is a British police officer turned author who specialises in US law enforcement. Sidekick is the story of how he got to know America's "real-life superheroes" so well that he became a superhero himself, all while he was serving as a Met Police officer.
During his time with these heroes he discovered how they walk the streets to fight crime and he even joins forces with the likes of Pheonix Jones and Master Legend. However, he becomes "horrified" by their "reckless pursuit of justice and the way they operate outside the law."
Publisher Humfrey Hunter commented: "America’s real-fife superheroes have long been figures of intense fascination all over the world. It’s hard to believe that people really do dress up in capes and masks and going out on the streets to protect people who can’t protect themselves. But it’s true – they really do, and Michael Matthews has got to know them better than any writer or journalist has before, so much so that he ended up joining their ranks, risking a great deal in the process."
