Digital short story publishing house Shortfire Press has launched a new app which presents sound and video content when a reader reaches a certain point in the text.
The Papercut app was produced in conjunction with digital design studio ustwo and is priced £3.99. The app features stories from Laura Dockrill, Nadifa Mohamed and non-fiction writer Richard Beard.
Shortfire Press publisher Clare Hey said: "Papercut is an exciting glimpse of the future of digital publishing and short stories are the perfect medium for it. Together, Shortfire Press, ustwo and our authors have brought the short story firmly into the enhanced digital age, and we’re excited to share what we’ve produced with readers."
Beard said: "Papercut is an innovative and interactive way to tell stories. For writers it’s the first glimpse of how writing skills and technology can come together to create a new art-form. I loved working on my story with ustwo. We’ve produced a story like no other I’ve ever written."
