Shops ready for Christmas gift

<p>Booksellers hope that the longer run up to Christmas Day in the final festive shopping week will see sales leap after a flat November, Fiona Fraser and Tom Holman write.</p><p>Book sales through Nielsen BookScan's General Retail Market saw the usual seasonal jump in the week ending 29th November, owing to a handful of big selling hardbacks and the roll-out of Christmas shopping promotions.
