Shoppers increasingly turn to web - ONS

<p>Internet sales have accounted for more than 10% of total retail sales for the first time, according to new government statistics.</p><p>The Office of National Statistics reported in November that web sales accounted for 10.5% of all retail sales, its highest figure to date. In November 2009, this proportion was 7.9%.</p><p>Last monthly average weekly web sales were &pound;660m, compared to the average weekly value of all retail sales of &pound;6.3bn.</p><p>However, total sales last month only achieved modest growth, up 1.1% year on year.</p>
