Little, Brown has made two "significant" promotions, with deputy publisher David Shelley becoming publisher of the group and commercial director Ben Groves-Raines moving up to chief operating officer.
All of the publishing imprints and the design department will now report into Shelley and both promotions are with immediate effect. However, current c.o.o. David Kent will continue in his role until he retires in early 2012.
C.e.o. Ursula Mackenzie said: "David Shelley has been central to the fantastic success Little, Brown has enjoyed over recent years—his publishing vision and energy has informed the resurgence of Sphere as a leading commercial imprint and he has spearheaded all our digital publishing, an area in which we excel."
Shelley said: "I am thrilled and honoured to be given this opportunity. During the last six years at Little, Brown, it has been exciting to witness the company's growth and to be part of a close-knit team publishing such a wide variety of books. I'm very much looking forward to working with Ursula and the imprint heads to take our performance to the next level."
Of Groves-Raines' promotion, Mackenzie said: "Ben Groves-Raines joined Little, Brown from Penguin in 2008 and has since overseen the faultless transition of our distribution from TBS to Littlehampton. He has the perfect skill set for this important role in which he will add responsibility for all operational aspects of the company including IT and production, to his existing commercial role."
Groves-Raines said: "The last two years have been an exhilarating experience and I am delighted to be taking on these additional responsibilities working with such a great team."
