David Shelley, c.e.o. of Hachette UK, was elected to the position of president of the Publishers Association at the organisation's annual general meeting, held virtually yesterday (Wednesday 28th April).
Shelley succeeds Taylor & Francis c.e.o. Annie Callanan, who remains an officer of the PA.

David Shelley said: “I feel very honoured to be president of the Publishers Association, following so many incredible publishers before me. My priority in the year ahead is to work to highlight the value that publishing adds to the world. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues across the industry to open up publishing as much as we can.”
PA chief executive Stephen Lotinga commented: “David is bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience and energy to his role as president of the Publishers Association. He has been a huge supporter of our work and I look forward to continuing to work with him as president to tell the industry’s story and make sure it has everything it needs for its continued success.”
Elected to the PA's council were Peter Phillips, c.e.o. of Cambridge University Press, Juliet Mabey, publisher of Oneworld, Karen Phillips, senior vice-president of Global Learning Resources at SAGE and Sharon Hague, senior vice-president at Pearson.
