Liz Kessler is set to release the seventh instalment of her middle grade series Emily Windsnap next year.
Orion Children’s Books will publish Emily Windsnap and the Giant’s Promise in the UK and Candlewick will publish it in the US in March 2018.
The Tail of Emily Windsnap, first published in 2003, tells the story of a girl who is also half mermaid. The series has sold five million copies in 25 territories and has a major motion picture in development with Hollywood producer, Reid Shane and Oscar award-winning director, Robert Stromberg.
Kessler said her next book was inspired by a trip to Niagara Falls, which “completely blew me away”.
“I can’t wait to share the news with my fabulous readers and hope they will enjoy reading Emily’s new adventure as much as I’ve been enjoying writing it,” she said.
Helen Thomas, editorial director at Orion Children’s Books, added: “Liz Kessler has been an Orion author for over 14 years and we’re thrilled to be publishing the next instalment in her bestselling fantasy adventure series.”
The publication in 2018 will be accompanied by a “major marketing and publicity campaign” co-ordinated between UK publisher Orion Children’s Books and US publisher Candlewick, the publisher said.
