Seven up for Lewis’ The Barrowfields

Seven up for Lewis’ The Barrowfields

Sceptre assistant editor Francine Toon bought British Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) for Phillip Lewis’ The Barrowfields, bringing the number of territories the début has sold into to seven.

Toon concluded the deal with Anna Webber at United Agents, on behalf of Chris Clemans at the Clegg Agency.

The novel was sold at auction to Hogarth in the US and Luchterhand in Germany, and pre-empted in Italy, France, the Netherlands and in Poland.

Toon said the book was “immersive, ambitious and heartbreaking, with all the hallmarks of an American classic”.
