Setting the record straight

Your piece on Independent Music Press (Book News, 19th September) was interesting, although I was surprised at the assertion that The Wonderstuff were, in 1993, "later to hit the big time". They went top 10 twice in 1991 (once as Vic Reeves' back-up band), and IMP definitely caught them on the way down. I also hope I didn't suffer the early '90s UK punk scene to be told that Mega City Four were "heavy metallers". Ropey they were, but they were definitely ropey punk, not metal.

Roly Allen

28 Britley House , London E14 7EX
