Second UEA graduate gets deal

<p>Directly after the announcement of Hamish Hamilton&#39;s signing of UEA graduate Joe Dunthorne comes news of a deal for Edward Hogan, another graduate from the creative writing course.</p><p>Hogan, winner of a David Higham Award at UEA, has signed a two-novel deal with Simon &amp; Schuster. The first novel is <em>Blackmoor </em>(spring 2008), about the secrets of a woman&rsquo;s life and death in an ailing mining village. S&amp;S will publish in trade paperback in spring 2008. Rochelle Venables at S&amp;S bought world rights in the novels through Veronique Baxter at David Higham.</p>
