HarperCollins and Harlequin Mills & Boon are to host a second virtual Romance Festival, following their first which was held last June.
The festival, a celebration of all things romance and erotica, will take place in the week before Valentine’s Day, on 7th and 8th February 2015.
The festival programme will include a fan day and an author day. The fan day will provide news and insight into books and authors, whilst the author day will offer professional advice and support to aspiring and established romance writers. Events will take place on Twitter, Facebook, the festival’s WordPress site and Google Hangouts, among others.
Sam Missingham, head of Audience Development at HarperCollins UK, said: "I’m really excited about running another romance festival, the authors and fans are highly engaged and digitally forward-thinking, so this format of event seems to fit perfectly."
Vicky Tinsley, manager of brand and communications at Mills & Boon, said: “Mills & Boon are so excited to, once again, be part of this amazing event offering access to favourite authors, essential writing tips and the chance to discover hot new reads. It’s a must-do for all romance fans!”
The first virtual romance was created as part of a wider strategy to engage directly with readers. It went on to win a Book Marketing Society award and was highly commended for a FutureBook award.
The festival will be free to ‘attend’ and registrations are taking place through Eventbrite to receive more details about the programme.
