Scribd launches Kindle Fire app

Book subscription service Scribd has launched a new app for the Kindle Fire.

The app, which can only be downloaded from Scribd and is not available in the Amazon App store, is supported by all Kindle Fire devices but not e-ink readers like the Kindle Paperwhite.

Its launch is part of a series of updates by Scribd for both its Android and iOS apps, which include more font sizes and a night reading mode.

Trip Adler, c.e.o. and co-founder of Scribd, said: “Since launching our subscription book service, our readers around the world have been asking for an app that worked with Kindle Fire.

“It’s one of the most popular reading devices available today and we want to enable our readers to enjoy Scribd across any of their devices.

“We’re excited to be able to add Kindle Fire to our line-up of over 100 supported devices.”

Scribd said its service was used on more than 11 million unique mobile devices in December 2013.
