Publisher Scholastic UK today announced a deal to develop children’s content with animation studio Brown Bag Films.
The partnership is a “first-look” deal, meaning Scholastic will have the first chance to develop Brown Bag content into books, and will share upcoming titles with the studio for potential animation development.
Scholastic UK co-group m.d Catherine Bell said the deal is an “exciting route to new project acquisition”.
She said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Brown Bag in this way. Storytelling is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re looking for great content that really resonates with kids.”
Brown Bag Films produces TV series such as Doc McStuffins, Octonauts, Henry Hugglemonster, Peter Rabbit and Bing, and has just started making The Stinky & Dirty Show for Amazon Studios.
The deal comes only weeks after Scholastic signed a deal to find new IP creators with children’s marketing platform SuperAwesome.
Under the terms of the deal, SuperAwesome will match-make Scholastic with media, animation and game developers. In addition, the SuperAwesome insights team will work with Scholastic to test concepts and initiatives in the bookmarket.
