Scholastic UK and Brown Bag Films are together developing a new children’s property, about a dog called Dylan and his friends, in both picture book and TV format.
The project is the first property to be developed as part of a first-look partnership agreement announced last year by the two companies.
Scholastic imprint Alison Green Books will publish two picture books – Dylan the Doctor and Dylan the Shopkeeper – in August 2016 and January 2017 respectively, with more titles to follow in late 2017 and 2018. The series was created by Guy Parker-Rees, who is represented by Hilary Delamere at the Agency.
Scholastic, which has world rights, will work alongside Brown Bag Films, which is developing a Dylan animation.
Publisher Alison Green said: “It's a joy working on the Dylan books with Guy Parker-Rees, and I'm thrilled that Brown Bag Films will be developing Dylan for television. Brown Bag have a fantastically strong track record of creating high-quality animation for pre-school children. They are the perfect choice to bring the humour, warmth and fun of Guy's characters to the small screen."
Jennie Stacey, head of development at Brown Bag Films, added: “Dylan immediately captured our hearts and we look forward to translating his stories from book to screen.”
