Scholastic has acquired a YA series by debut author Melinda Salisbury.
Genevieve Herr, commissioning editor for fiction, made the five-figure deal with Claire Wilson of Rogers, Coleridge & White.
Scholastic is taking proofs of the first book, The Sin Eater’s Daughter, which is about a young girl who works as the court executioner, to the Bologna Children's Book Fair next week. The book will be released in March 2015.
“We are so proud to welcome Melinda Salisbury to the Scholastic list,” said Herr. “I absolutely fell for The Sin Eater’s Daughter when it came in – it's assured, dark, and original. We are on tenterhooks for the next instalment of her exceptional trilogy.”
