Saltyard Books has bought two books about Prashad, the Indian restaurant run by the Patel family in Bradford which narrowly missed out on Gordon Ramsey's Britain's Best Restaurant award.
Saltyard Books publisher Elizabeth Hallett bought world rights in a two-book deal through Annabel Merullo at PFD. The Prashad Cookbook by Kaushy Patel, who founded the restaurant when she turned a launderette into a kitchen, will be published in hardback in September 2012, priced £20.
The Patel family were runners-up on Ramsey's Channel 4 programme which aired last autumn, and the book aims to help cooks recreate the Prashad dishes in their own homes.
Hallett said: "I'm hugely excited to have acquired Kaushy's book. Prashad already has thousands of fans who love this distinctive and deliciously different food, and soon they will be able to enjoy cooking it at home too."
