Sales inch ahead as Oliver breaks 100,000 barrier

<p>Book sales last week inched ahead of 2004, with Jamie Oliver's cookbook breaking the 100,000 copies barrier. But while sales through Nielsen BookScan's Total Consumer Market were ahead in the week-ending 17th December, there was another fall in the high street-based General Retail Market as chains made their last push to Christmas.

The value of TCM sales in the seven-day period was &#163;72.4m, representing a rise of 1.8% on the same week last year in revenue. GRM revenue was &#163;51.5m, down 1.1% on 2004 levels.
