W H Smith said it was "well positioned" for growth in the future, as the retailer announced its interim management statement. For the 10 weeks to 6th November, sales were down 2% compared to 2009.
WHS Travel like-for-like sales were down 1%, which the retailer said was in line with expectations. High street like-for-likes were down 4%.
The retailer said: "We continue to focus on delivering our strategy to rebalance the mix of our business towards our core categories." It added: "We remain a resilient business and are well positioned for
continued growth in the future."
