Sainsbury's has extended its book club offer with Random House for another six months, finishing at the end of June 2011.
The supermarket has been running the bi-weekly book club, which promotes ebuts and brand name authors, with Random House since January under year's partnership with the publisher. Books are priced £3.99 and feature in its 2 for £7 campaign.
The next title to feature is Monica Ali's In the Kitchen, which goes into stores on Thursday (27th May).
Sainsbury's buyer Sharon Gurney said: "When we relaunched Book Club this year we not only wanted to own selected debut authors but also to really increase our sales and shares on some of the biggest brand authors. We're doing both."
Among the successes on the book club to date were sales of around 15,000 on two debuts; The King's Mistress by Emma Campion and Skin & Bones by Tom Bale, Gurney said. She claimed the supermarket had market share of around 75% on both titles.
Gurney added Sainsbury's had also grown sales and market share on titles by Katie Fforde and Sophie Kinsella.
Sainsbury's will take book club submissions from other publishers for the second half of 2011 onwards in the New Year.
