Michael Rosen is touring six London bookshops on the 22nd June to celebrate Independent Booksellers Week (IBW) and the publication of his new book.
During the "mini tour", Rosen will talk about his latest children’s book, Uncle Gobb and the Dread Shed (Bloomsbury Children’s) at three branches of Foyles and three independents. starting at Foyles on Charing Cross Road. He will then head down to the Royal Festival Hall and Waterloo branches of Foyles before making his way to The Alligator’s Mouth in Richmond and two shops in Dulwich; Dulwich Books and Tales on Moon Lane.
Uncle Gobb and the Dread Shed, published on 4th June, is about 10-year old Malcolm and his bossy Uncle Gobb, who likes homework and worksheets. The illustrator is Neal Layton.
Rosen said: ““I am massively looking forward to my whistle-stop tour of independent bookshops. Uncle Gobb would strongly disapprove because it's not about facts, questions and answers.”
Bloomsbury Children’s will document the day on social media using the hashtags #UncleGobbOnTour and #IBW2015.
IBW, which will this year run 20-17th June, is a campaign run by the Booksellers Association to celebrate independent bookshops.
