Summersdale is getting in the mood for love this Valentine’s Day with four romantic reads.
Editorial and rights director Jennifer Barclay said: “Every year we look for a selection of gift books on love to provide a fresh offering for the Valentine’s market as well as throughout the year, which is very important in the gift market.”
She added for next year the titles offer great value for money through excellent packaging. Barclay said: “We think the feel and must-have quality of a gift book is increasingly important in this market.”
All You Need Is Love has a selection of quotations on love as readers love well-chosen quotations. The publisher has used printed cloth binding and muted, textured colours for the illustrated pages for the feel of a high-quality contemporary gift.
The publisher is also releasing A Gift of Love, which is filled with selected romantic words from classic and contemporary authors. Barclay said: “We’ve also had great success this year with the war-time poster tie-ins Keep Calm and Drink Up and Now Panic and Freak Out—clearly people love this format—so we created All You Need is Love in the same popular style.”
Barclay said Me Without You . . . by Lisa Swerling and Ralph Lazar would provide readers with something more offbeat. She said: “We worked with one of the most creative illustration teams around, Ralph Lazar and Lisa Swerling of Last Lemon (known for the highly popular Harold’s Planet and Vimrod characters), to develop their unique, quirky and funny love message for people looking for something a bit different.”
Summersdale will also publish Very Naughty Games, which Barclay said, “speaks for itself”.
All four of the titles will be published as £4.99 hardbacks, except Very Naughty Games at £5.99, on 10th January.
