Robin Harvie is to join Aurum Press from Fourth Estate.
Currently non-fiction commissioning editor and digital editor at Fourth Estate, Harvie has been appointed senior commissioning editor and digital publisher at the independent, and will start at the beginning of September.
His new role will involve a special responsibility for developing Aurum's sports list as well as a company-wide brief to lead and manage its digital strategy.
Aurum m.d. David Graham said: "Robin's range of skills and experience and—as importantly—taste in books are ideally suited to Aurum as we move into the next phase of the company's growth and development.
"I am very sure he will make an invaluable contribution not only in bringing new books of distinction to the list but also in finding new routes to market for all our list."
Publisher Graham Coster said, "Robin joins us with the admirable track record of publishing non-fiction like The Rest is Noise that is both of the highest quality and commercially successful, and the added qualification, as invaluable as it is rare for a commissioning editor, of having himself written, in Why We Run, an extremely good book."
Harvie continued: 'I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Aurum to develop such a distinguished list that includes two of my favourite sports writers, Gideon Haigh and Richard Askwith.
"It is also an incredibly exciting time in digital publishing, and independent publishers have shown that they are perfectly placed to capitalise on digital technology to reach new markets."
