Sarah Emsley at Transworld has bought a road-trip memoir from Australian stand-up comic Brendon Burns. Fear of Hat Loss in Las Vegas is based on a seven-day foray into the Nevada desert by Burns and friends, and is described as "a true-life tale of fate, coincidence, broken hearts, drugs, sex, debauchery and, ultimately, friendship."
Emsley acquired world rights from Addison Cresswell at Off The Kerb and will publish in August 2009, to tie in with Burns' Edinburgh show. Emsley said: "Offensive and outrageous, yet razor sharp, with a heart of gold, Brendon is just as hilarious on the page as he is on the stage."
Burns described his book as "a warts and all, no holds-barrred insight into the life and psyche of the jobbing road comic."
