Random House will be publishing the biography of Robert Ripley, the man who wrote the original "Believe It or Not" newspaper columns that sparked the world of Ripley's Believe It or Not.
Ripley Publishing renewed its UK publishing license with Random House, and A Curious Man, the biography, is the latest title in its publishing programme.
The title, which is described as "the story of the unlikely hero who created our modern love affair with trivia", will be published in June 2013, and foreign rights are available at London Book Fair through Lucy Flynn at Andrew Nurnberg Associates.
Written by biographer Neal Thompson, the book will tell the story of Ripley, who criss-crossed the globe to seek out the strange and unusual, becoming a regular fixture of radio and television. He eventually bought a 28-room mansion stocked with oddities such as shrunken heads and medieval torture devices, and started the Ripley's business empire that survives today.
