Canelo has appointed Francesca Riccardi to the newly-created role of head of sales.
Riccardi, a Bookseller class of 2017 Rising Star, began work for the independent digital publisher on Monday (4th September). Previously at Atlantic Books, Riccardi will oversee management of key accounts, promotions and merchandising of Canelo titles, pricing strategy, metadata optimisation, sales data analysis and business development across a number of areas including audio.
"As a recipient of the BIC Basic Product Excellence Award, Riccardi is also exceptionally well placed to review Canelo’s workflow, processes and commercial approach and to ensure they are best in class", a spokesperson for the publisher said.
Iain Millar, managing director at Canelo, added: "We wanted to radically rethink what a head of sales looks like in an e-book-led company, re-imagining the role for a new publishing landscape. Finding someone with the right skillset hasn’t been easy. But Francesca has an innate understanding of data, commercial flair, fantastic relationships with retailers and the kind of entrepreneurial vision that matches what we are about at Canelo.
