RHCP signs Irish YA debut

Random House Children’s Publishers (RHCP) has acquired the debut novel from Irish YA author Moïra Fowley-Doyle .

The Accident Season is about 17-year-old Cara and her family. Every October they become mysteriously and often violently accident-prone, leading Cara to try and understand the accident season’s dark origins.

Natalie Doherty, editor at RHCP, acquired world rights in a two-book deal from Claire Wilson at Rogers, Coleridge and White, and will publish in summer 2015.

“I fell in love with Moïra’s writing from the first paragraph,” said Doherty. “The Accident Season is dark and haunting, told in the most beautiful prose, and perfectly captures the confusion and passion of adolescence.”

Rights have also been sold to Kathy Dawson Books in the US and CBT in Germany.
