Random House Children's Books has acquired a "YA novel in the spirit of The Time Traveller's Wife" by Tamara Ireland Stone.
Editorial director Kelly Hurst and commissioning editor Lauren Buckland bought UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) through Caspian Dennis at Abner Stein, on behalf of Caryn Wiseman at the Andrea Brown Literary Agency.
Mobius is about Anna, a 16-year-old living in a small town in Illinois in 1995, and Bennett, a 17-year-old in 2012 living in San Francisco, who can time travel. He finds himself in Anna's world, and the two fall in love even though they know Bennett will eventually have to go back to his own time.
Hurst and Buckland said: "Mobius is an astonishing debut novel; ingeniously plotted, achingly romantic and unputdownable. We're thrilled to be Tamara's UK publisher".
RHCB will be publishing in autumn 2012 alongside US publisher Hyperion.
