Book wholesaler Bertrams has reported that total revenues increased by 9.7% in the 19 weeks to 11th January, helped by the success of online retailer Wordery.
The Norwich-based company said that while total revenue increased by 9.7%, like-for-like sales decreased by 0.4%.
While new acquisitions and the growth of the new online retailer Wordery, overall sales were offset by decreases in international and library sales, Bertrams said.
Total revenues for the Smith News Group, Bertrams’ parent company, were down by 0.4% year-on-year.
However, the group remains “ on track” to deliver strong growth in underlying profit before tax for the year to 31st August 2014, in line with market expectations, the company said.
