Jonathan Cape has announced the release date of the new James Bond novel, written by William Boyd, with the secret agent’s next mission planned for 26th September 2013.
The book is as yet untitled, but fans can find out more about the book from the new website www.jamesbondthenewmission.co.uk which went live at midday today (18th February).
So far the publisher has revealed that the book will be set in 1969 and feature a 45-year-old Bond. It is hoped the book will hark back to Ian Fleming’s classic portrayal of 007, following on from Sebastian Faulks' treatment of the character with 2008’s Devil May Care.
Jonathan Cape, the Vintage imprint which originally published Ian Fleming, will publish the book in the UK on the same date as it is released in the US and Canada by HarperCollins.
April 2013 marks the 60th anniversary of Fleming’s first Bond novel, Casino Royale. To mark the occasion, Random House will release new editions of Fleming’s non-fiction books Thrilling Cities and The Diamond Smugglers.
