DK is publishing What Mummy Makes, the first weaning cookbook from Rebecca Wilson, who garnered a following of more than 130,000 on Instagram within months by sharing "easy, fuss-free" recipes families can enjoy together.
World rights were acquired by senior acquisitions editor Stephanie Milner from Darryl Samaraweera at Artellus Ltd, and the book will be published on 23rd July 2020.
According to DK, included in the book will be "healthy, delicious recipes to wean your baby, and feed the whole family", based on the author's philosophy that parents can wean their babies and introduce them to new foods while sharing the same delicious meals alongside them. Billed as "quick, fresh, accessible and nutritious", dishes in the book extend to breakfasts, lunches, main meals, snacks and treats; with dishes that can be prepared in 10, 15 and 30 minutes. The book also includes advice, from suggestions for what can be prepared and frozen to get ahead, ingredients you should avoid when weaning, food for fussy eaters, and nutritional food profiles.
Milner said: "I feel incredibly proud that DK will publish Rebecca’s first book. She is a hugely talented home cook who coaches her audience of new mums and dads through the tough and often anxious time of weaning their children. The rapid expansion of her channel is testament to her dedication to the @WhatMummyMakes community, where she joins her followers every day to offer advice and recipes for feeding babies from six months old."
Wilson said: "I’m delighted to be publishing my first book with DK, filled with the recipes I have been creating for my family, friends and Instagram followers for the past year and a half. I can’t wait to share this book with the community of parents and carers who love and make my recipes every day."
