Matthew Pilkington has been hired as the Reading Agency's director of development and communications.
The charity said Pilkington, who joins the Reading Agency from Buckingham University, will help it expand the reach and impact of its work in the newly created role.
Pilkington has also worked in development at UK Community Foundations (UKCF), the membership body for the 48 community foundations across the UK, and at charities such as Age UK and Shelter.
Chief executive Sue Wilkinson said: “I am delighted to welcome Matthew as our new director of development and communications. His excellent track record in securing investment for charities, as well as developing and implementing strategic communication plans, makes him the ideal person to help us expand our reach and start even more people on their reading journey.”
Pilkington added: “It's an exciting time to be joining The Reading Agency, which is perfectly placed to be the go-toorganisation for a wide range of potential partners that share a passion for engaging children, young people and adults with reading. I believe wholeheartedly in the transformative power of a love of reading and am looking forward to helping ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to engage with reading through our work.”
