Reading Agency backs YA Book Prize

The Reading Agency has teamed up with The Bookseller to send out library packs promoting the YA Book Prize.

The packs, which contain posters, stickers and bookmarks, are being sent to 200 UK libraries.

They were available to libraries free of charge via The Reading Agency’s online shop, in quantities of one pack per library, or up to 20 packs per authority. The Reading Agency had planned to send out 100 packs, but doubled the number after the first consignment was allocated within a day.

Karen Brodie, head of publisher partnerships at The Reading Agency, said: “The fantastic response to The Bookseller’s YA Book Prize shows there is enormous enthusiasm and commitment in libraries to shine a spotlight on great books for young people.”

Nearly 100 promotional packs have been sent to bookshops in the UK and Ireland, and digital materials for retailers and the wider media are free to download here.

Free reading sheets about the 10 shortlisted books—with questions divided into three categories: themes characters and writing— will be available on the YA Book Prize website by the end of the week, for usage by reading groups in libraries and schools.
