Random House Children's Books is to create a new joint venture company to produce animated and live-action children’s and family entertainment for the cinema and television from RHCB published books and characters.
Random House Children’s Screen Entertainment (RHSCE) will be jointly owned by Random House and Komixx Entertainment and staffed from the two organisations. Catherine Robins, m.d. of 2 Sides TV and minority shareholder, has assisted with the creation of this new entity and will join RHCSE’s management team. At RHCB the venture will be led on a day to day basis by Fiona Macmillan, colour publisher.
Philippa Dickinson, m.d. of RHCB, said: "It marks a huge step forward in terms of RHCB’s ability to provide our authors and licensors with the perfect platform from which we can develop properties in a truly holistic manner – with regard to traditional and evolving means of delivering content."
Andrew Cole-Bulgin, joint c.e.o. of Komixx Entertainment, said: "At a time when original content is at a premium, this is a wonderful opportunity for us to be involved in developing entertainment from one of the largest libraries of original, high-quality children’s and family intellectual property."
Komixx Entertainment is a film and television rights owner and producer backed by Swiss venture fund EAM Private Capital AG. It was established in 2006.
