Random House has acquired two more titles by Peter Ackroyd, in separate deals, with both Vintage and Chatto and Windus snapping up titles.
Chatto & Windus editorial director Clara Farmer acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in Three Brothers, a new novel by Ackroyd, from Sonia Land at Sheil Land Associates. The book will be published in autumn 2013, with the agent describing the book as "wonderfully pacy", and telling the lives of three brothers in mid-twentieth century London.
In another deal, also through Land, Vintage editor Alison Hennessey acquired UK and Commonwealth rights in Abridged London by Peter Ackroyd. This abridgement of Ackroyd's London: The Biography will be published in spring 2012 as a b-format paperback, priced £8.99.
Hennessey said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be able to bring Peter's magisterial biography of London to a whole new audience through our specially abridged edition. With both the Olympics and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee next year, everyone's eyes will be on London and Peter is the perfect guide to the city through the ages." She added it will be aimed at both tourists and those that live in London.
