The Authors' Club has revealed the shortlist for its Best First Novel Award 2009, with Guardian First Book Award and John Llewellyn Rhys Prize nominee Ross Raisin shortlisted again for God's Own Country (Viking).
The other six books in the shortlist are:Nathalie Abi-Ezzi Girl Made of Dust (Fourth Estate); Poppy Adams The Behaviour of Moths (Virago); Laura Beatty Pollard (Chatto & Windus); Daniel Clay Broken (HarperPress); Jacob Ross Pynter Bender (Fourth Estate); and Robin Yassin-Kassab Road From Damascus (Hamish Hamilton).
The books were selected by club members and the winner will be chosen by guest adjudicator, Man Booker Prize-nominated author Philip Hensher. The award will be presented in London on 23rd March.
Last year's winner was Segun Afolabi for Goodbye Lucille (Cape).
